From the Press Box

From the Press Box was hatched in 1998 and first published in May 1999. The first column will indicate how it originated and what I had hoped to do with it.

The topic in the inaugural edition was pitcher Dennis Springer, who kicked around in the minor leagues for nine years before finally getting a chance to pitch in the big leagues with the Philadelphia Phillies in September 1995. He pitched for six different teams during parts of eight seasons and called it a career after his last appearance with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2002.

Columns from 2009 will be uploaded every other Wednesday during the regular season and every Wednesday during the playoffs.

Selected columns from past seasons are also posted. Those links are listed chronologically.
